Here is our Dear Kaidence in Recovery. We really hope that Recovery in this setting means that this is the start of the long road to complete recovery. With the Berlin Heart Kaidence's left ventrical actually has a chance to reconstruct and get healthy. We can't express the love and thanks we have for all the support our Kaidence has recieved. The Staff here at Primary's has been amazing as usaual. Our room feels like grand central at the moment with all the doctors and nurses caring for our little one.

Here is a little explanation of what you are seeing in the picture. The three tubes on Kaidences right (left on the picture) are drainage tubes to let the blood around her heart drain and not accumulate. She is still intubated that's the big blue and clear tube that eventually goes into her mouth. The Berlin Heart is the red device on her diaper. It is red because you are seeing Kaidence's blood flowing through the Berlin Heart. You can tell how oxygenated her blood is by the color of the Berlin Heart. It is really an amazing device. You can feel it and see it beat. It feels like you imagine a heart would beat like. If you turn it over you can see how it is beating. What this means for Kaidence is that she is not sweating anymore. She no longer has to struggle and work to get blood through her system. She looks really good. We are so lucky that Primary's was able to support Kaidence with an lvad device.

Primary Childrens has asked us to join them in a press conference to tell a little of Kaidence's story and the Berlin Heart.

Kaidence - We are so proud of you! You have stayed so strong for all of us, you have taught us so much over the past 4 months, and because of you we are stronger. You did such a great job today! We were so proud, and I'm sure you enjoyed having a little break today and being able to spend some time with angel grandma. I know she was there watching over you the whole time. You look fantastic! I loved being able to see your new "heart", and to feel it "beating". You truly are a miracle, and because of you, many others and there families will be blessed. Stay strong little lady We love you. Love Mike, Lyse and Ryann.

We have been fasting and praying for her comfort during this operation, and we'll continue to stand by you guys if you need anything. Kaidence is a strong girl and you guys are amazing parents to have her. We'll continue to keep updated on her condition in the hours and days ahead.

What a picture! A new beginning. A new adventure. And full recovery is the wish and dream of all of us who have watched from a distance. I am so proud of all of you. Thank you for being willing to share your story, your strength, your testimonies with all of us. WE are being blessed through you. Driving home from Provo I heard a song that was so fitting called "Angels Among Us" - what an image of what Kaidence must have been feeling today.
We love you! Wendy & Sarah

Sissy - It's been a while since we've seen you but we got to see you tonight on the blog with your new Berline heart. We're so happy we could cry. We are so happy your getting better.

Kaidence-
We're so proud of you! What an amazing example of strength and courage you've been to us. We haven't been this happy in a long time for it's been so hard seeing you struggle to do the simplest things. You're new heart is amazing and it's incredible to hold and feel your heart beating. We love you so much and thanks for strengthening our faith and testimonies.

What an amazing, stressful, and blessed day you have had! I'm sure you are emotionally exhausted! We have been fasting and praying for Kadience and will continue to do so until her heart is healed. Don't worry, she won't be the only girl in the PICU for too long, Taryn will be joining her at the beginning of next year. I'm sure by then you both will be running the place! :)

With much admiration,
Michele

To our little miracle Kaidence. You are an incredible and strong spirit. What a blessing you have been in so many lives. I feel so lucky to share in this life changing journey that you are leading us on. Heavenly Father knew of your sweet spirit, and that you were strong enough to lead this team of Doctors to this medical miracle. You and your family will have great faith promoting stories to share throughout your life.
We love you and send hugs and prayers to you. Good luck tomorrow, as you share your message to the world. I know that there will be many, that will be touched by your story. Love, Larry and Deb

I too am grateful that you have been willing to share your hour by hour progression today. I can’t imagine how you must have felt, but I have been on the computer all day and have checked on Kaidence several times. I have to say though that update # 1 caused my heart to jump through my throat when I read “Well, we just said our goodbye's to Kaidence and I cried like a little baby.” After a second I realized what you meant. We haven’t met (yet) but I’m sure we will in time through IHH. I just learned of Kaidence about a week ago and I have been so anxious for this day to come. She appears to be alert in the picture. I hope she is comfortable. I can’t imagine the medical staff that is checking in on her, so I hope they will let her get some rest and you will be comforted so that you can get the rest somehow that you need as well.

What an amazing day you have had. It is a miracle that Kaidence was a candidate for the Belin Heart. We are so blessed to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus are always there for us. You are in our prayers and we gain strength from you.

Yesterday, during Kaidence's surgery, a friend emailed me a quote. It made me think of your little Kaidence and made me smile. "When the catepillar thinks is the end of life, the butterfly thinks it is just the begining." I want to say Congrats to Kaidence and your whole family. Know that we are thinking of you always, we love you all.

When is the press conference? I'm glad she is looking so good! It is such an amazing thing that your family has been blessed with. I'm mostly glad that Kaidence isn't having to work so hard. That is fabulous. I hope her body heals quickly!
